Stop!!! Don’t start planning another trip until you do this…

Check your passport expiration date!!!

Keep in mind the six month passport rule: Most countries will not permit a traveler to enter their country unless the passport is set to expire at least six months after the final day of travel. That means if your passport has less than six months remaining until the expiration date, you should renew it right away!!

Save yourself the time AND the money. I’ve seen a few videos of travelers that were not aware of the six month passport rule, and they’ve been denied boarding on their flight. They ultimately lose the money they’ve spent on their vacation.

Read more about the six month passport rule here.

While you’re checking the expiration date, check the condition of your passport.

Make sure there are no tears, or writing on the pages. According to travel.state.gov, If your passport has been significantly damaged, especially the book cover or the page displaying your personal data and photo, you will need to apply for a new passport. Damage that might require you to replace your passport includes water damage, a significant tear, unofficial markings on the data page, missing visa pages (torn out), a hole punch, or other injuries.

I hope this helps with your future travel plans! Be sure to share this with a friend or two that you know may be traveling soon!
