Traveler of the Month
The featured traveler for April is Erika Martin. I was added to her FaceBook group by a friend. I haven't met her in person, yet we've had a few inbox conversations about travel. Erika is the founder of She Travels the Globe. She has a wealth of knowledge in travel and I'm always eager to read what she posts in her group. I caught up with Erika to discuss all things travel. Let's take a travel journey though Erika's experiences...
Pink Sky Dreams:
To date, what’s been your favorite travel destination? What about this
destination makes it your favorite?
Erika:
Thailand. It’s a budget traveler paradise and absolutely beautiful. The people are friendly and it’s easy to navigate and easy on your pockets. There is so much to do. I was there 2 weeks and only touched the very surface. I plan to return in 2020 and take my son.
Pink Sky Dreams:
What do you love most about travel? What is your favorite thing about traveling?
Erika:
The excitement of planning. I know most people get excited about going. I get excited about planning. You learn so much in your research. I’m a nerd. I love to learn about people, their culture, traditions, food, history, art, architecture, etc.…before I arrive.Â
Pink Sky Dreams:
Name something positive you that you took away from your last travel adventure.
Erika:
Solo travel is beautiful. I traveled to Guadalajara and Mexico City, Mexico January 2019. Was it scary? Yes. Anytime you travel alone to an unknown place gives you butterflies. However, once I hopped into my Uber at the airport, my Uber driver was friendly, which made me feel comfortable and loosened my tension. Traveling solo, I feel you meet yourself. I think once in a lifetime we all need to travel solo.
Pink Sky Dreams:
Tell me about your favorite vacation picture and why it’s your favorite.
Erika:
This one is hard for me because I love them all, but if I had to choose one, I would choose the Airbnb I stayed in, in Guadalajara, Mexico. I know weird, but it was beautiful. I felt the host immersed me into the beauty of Guadalajara, before I got the chance to explore the city. The décor was well thought out, from the flooring to the books to read. Then the extra treats the host left me from a popular bakery were tasty.Â
Pink Sky Dreams:
Which destination is currently at the top of your travel bucket list? What
intrigues you about this destination?
Erika:
Poland. Yes, I know Poland isn’t a destination on most people bucket list. It’s been on my radar for a while. I know Poland has a dark history. But I’m a nerd and I love to learn the history of other countries. Poland has some awesome gems. Their architecture has stolen my heart. One in particular is the Roof Garden at Warsaw University Library. It’s beautiful and unique. Then they have some of the coolest café’s that I would love to have a cup of coffee in.
Here are a few of Erika's favorite travel pictures!
